The Lookout Mobile team consists of: Patrick Fitzgerald In October 2007, Patrick purchased his first iPhone from eBay in America and began the treacherous task of hacking the phone for use in Australia. Two dead iPhone’s later, Patrick co-founded Lookout Mobile with Daniel Kagan. At Lookout, Patrick is responsible for strategic planning, interface design and overseeing application programming through the full development cycle. After completing a software engineering degree at RMIT University Melbourne in 2002, Patrick became involved in a new startup called Express More, an innovative company providing graphic content for instant messenger, email and mobile phones. Express More was the first company worldwide to provide custom emoticons for MSN Messenger and had distribution agreements with Skype worldwide as well as MSN UK and NineMSN Australia. After Express More, Pat continued to work in the digital space focusing on software application development & website design, winning numerous awards including Best in Class & Outstanding Achievement at the Internative Media Association awards in 2008 & 2009 respectively. Daniel Kagan – Managing Director With 10 years experience in the direct marketing and digital media space, Daniel has a great understanding of how to communicate relevant, timely and interesting content via the mobile platform. A key operational figure at Lookout Mobile he is responsible for advising clients on ‘best mobile application practice’ such as, sourcing appropriate content, conceptualizing user interface and understanding market trends. With client experience ranging from IBM, DuPont, Yahoo and Nokia, Daniel’s experience makes him an excellent resource for a diverse range of mobile projects. Rafif Yalda – iPhone Developer Rafif’s first computer was at the tender age of 3 when he first touched a Sinclair ZX Spectrum (who can ever forget RENEGADE?!). From there he grew up with various Amiga’s, following AMOS BASIC programming tutorials in magazines. At the time it was all just fun and games. It would be 8 years later in 1995 when Rafif first discovered the World Wide Web that his unheeded passion for computers would be reignited. Rafif quickly began learning web development while at high-school and from there, went on to complete a Bachelor of Software Engineering with Honours at Monash University in 2009. Primarily working with web-based development languages, Rafif always wanted to apply his knowledge to more than just the web, and “made the switch” to an Apple environment, hoping to make a career out of programming for Apple’s platforms. After attending WWDC 2008 as a result of a scholarship with the AUC (http://auc.edu.au), Rafif’s decision was made to program for the platform he enjoyed most. Initially focusing on Mac OS development, the success of the iPhone caused a shift in direction and provided an opportunity to be a part of something different and exciting. |
